The film and television science is a cultural science, which dedicates itself to all aspects of the film art (feature, documentary film) in cinema and television. The subject of the subject are the audiovisual media, their history, theory and aesthetics. A special interest is directed toward the analysis of film and television, in particular on its specific communication structures and its position and function within culture. Thus the subject connects medium-historical, medium-theoretical and culturalscientific work beginnings.

Specialized information, which is usable in the context of the film and television science, often originates from different scientific disciplines: Medium and communication science, journalism, literature science, Germanistik, economics and social science, cultural science, psychology and art. Due to these interdiscipline airty information resources of the film and television science take partially a large spectrum at ranges of topics.
